The Dumbler Olympic | 25 mm loadable dumbbell

A rack of dumbbells asks for a room of its own. These ask for a drawer. The Dumbler Standard is a loadable dumbbell, a short handle you add plates to, so one pair covers presses, rows, curls and lunges at whatever weight the day calls for. It takes 25 mm plates, up to 50 kg per handle, and the collar is built in, so nothing loosens mid-set. It's small enough for the living room or a suitcase. The one condition is that you don't drop them.

For about a century the barbell didn't change, and neither did its weak point: the collar. It's the part that holds the plates in place, and in practice it pinches fingers, slips mid-set and goes missing. In 2018, a small team in Oslo built the collar into the bar. SlideLock is a titanium slider and a magnet. You load the plate, flick the slider and lift, and there's nothing to lose. Every piece in the range is built around it. The name comes from Odin's spear, the one that never missed.
