Celebrations are an opportunity to raise and maintain awareness. We at ninjoo would like to do our bit to help create awareness about this year's Women's Day theme Equity vs. Equality.
It is important to recognize the importance of understanding and embracing #embraceequity in order to support progress towards equality. Equality doesn’t take into account the unique challenges faced by certain communities or individuals, so instead we need to be focusing on equity, which speaks to the fairness of opportunities offered without any discrimination or preconceived notions. Equity not only ensures that all women have an opportunity for success, but also keeps in check present social inequities that can prevent different groups from reaching maximum potential. #embracequity allows us to challenge existing structures while at the same time create space for a more equitable society.
